The 2011 Little League West Region Junior Softball Tournament will begin on Thursday, Aug. 4 in Marana.
The tournament will be played at Crossroads Park, 7548 N. Silverbell Road, which is located within District 5. It also is the home of Continental Ranch Little League.
Teams from Arizona, Alaska, California, Hawaii, Oregon, Utah and Washington will be competing in the tournament. The games, which will all played on fields No. 2 and No. 3, will begin Thursday starting at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
The next round of games will take place Friday at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The tournament will continue Saturday at 9 a.m., 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
The consolation bracket will conclude Sunday at 5 p.m. The champion bracket will continue Sunday at 7:30 p.m., and Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. each day.
The winner of the tournament will advance to the Little League Junior Softball World Series in Kirkland, Wash., which begins on Aug. 14.
In addition to the players, manager and coaches, the tournament will be officiated by six incoming umpires from three different western region states. These volunteers travel to the tournament at their own expense to umpire the games.
