The Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks were eliminated from the Division II state playoffs Friday night, losing in the semi-finals to Cienega High School.
In a tough defensive battle, and Cienega holding a 17-14 lead through the third quarter, the game got exciting in the final five minutes.
After Mitch Fischer scored his third touchdown of the night to put the Nighthawks ahead 21-17, Cienega's offense look to answer.
After a crucial fourth and seven conversion from their own 40, Cienega capitalized with a long touchdown pass, taking a 24-21 lead.
With 3:33 left, the Nighthawks had good starting position at their own 40-yard-line, but failed to convert on fourth down, giving Cienega the victory.
