The Pima Community College baseball team (4-9-1, 1-3 in conference) dropped a doubleheader at South Mountain on Tuesday.
In the first game, the Aztecs tied it in the 7th inning but fell 3-2 in eight innings. The Aztecs took a 1-0 lead in the 3rd inning after Alec Beyersdorf (Catalina Foothills HS) hit an RBI single to score Luis Robles (Flowing Wells HS). The Aztecs tied the game at 2-2 in the 7th inning after Cooper Smith (Canyon del Oro HS) hit an RBI double scoring Bryant Munoz, who hit a triple to set up the tying run. Jake Cole (Sahuaro HS) threw seven innings giving up two earned runs off three hits with seven strikeouts and three walks.
The Aztecs gave up six runs in the bottom of the 6th inning and lost 9-6 in the second game. Pima had a 5-3 lead going into the 6th. Zach Schira (Marcos de Niza HS) went 2 for 3 with a RBI and a run scored. Kyle Becerra (Marcos de Niza HS) finished 2 for 4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Dylan Dyson (Flowing Wells HS) and Sergio Ortiz (Sunnyside HS) each had an RBI for the game.
The Aztecs will play Okanagan College (Canada) on Wednesday in a doubleheader. The first game will start at noon.
