The Mountain View Mountain Lions’ season ended tonight at the hands of Peoria-based team Liberty High School.

The Mountain Lions jumped to an early 7-0 lead, but it was all Liberty from there. The Lions scored 22 points before the Mountain Lions would find the end zone again on a touchdown reception from Andre Duncan to make it 22-14 at halftime.

The Mountain Lions had a chance to tie the game early in the second half after Matt Thomas jumped on a fumble and scored to put Mountain View within two. A failed two-point conversion put the score at 22-20.

That was the last glimpse of hope for the Mountain Lions, as Liberty scored 35 unanswered points to close out the game in dominant fashion, 57-20.

Wyatt led the way with four rushing touchdowns and two passing touchdowns.

The Lions will next face Salpointe Catholic High School, who advanced after defeating Cibola High School.

Also advancing from the Northwest area is Canyon Del Oro High School, who topped Higley High 34-31.

Pusch Ridge plays Bourgade Catholic tomorrow, Nov. 9 in Phoenix.
