The Baseball Legends LLC will host the inaugural Cecil Fielder Elite World Series baseball tournament in July at Kino Sports Complex. It is an opportunity to watch talented youths from the United States and Mexico compete in two events: July 1-5 for ages 16 and under and July 8-12 for ages 14 and under.
Tournament play starts at 10 a.m. daily. Admission is $5 a day, but weekly passes are available for less at the gate. Admission for children ages 13 and under is free.
Baseball legend Cecil Fielder will make scheduled appearances during the games and will be available for autographs and pictures at both events. Other retired Major League Baseball stars, like Kenneth Landreaux and Rudy Seanez, will be coaching.
Fielder will also promote the World Series tournaments in Tucson at a news conference at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, at the Radisson Suites Tucson, 6555 E. Speedway Blvd. He will discuss the benefits that his organization provides by educating and supporting the growth of athletes and helping financially with youth scholarships so young athletes have the opportunity to excel in baseball.
Youth competing in these five-day round robin tournaments include athletes from Tucson and San Luis, Ariz.; East Cobb, Ga., and Las Vegas, Nev.; a state team from New Mexico; and three California teams from San Diego, Los Angeles and Imperial Valley. International groups from Mexicali, San Luis Rio Colorado, Ciudad Juarez, and Obregon, Mexico, will also participate.
A total of 64 teams are expected this year. There are plans to grow this international tournament into a premier, annual event for Tucson.

Kino Sports Complex is the largest professional sports venue of its kind in Pima County. It includes the 11,000-seat Kino Veterans Memorial Stadium, 12 baseball fields (five with lights) and lighted softball and soccer fields.
With its panoramic view of the Santa Catalina Mountains, it is a natural fit for youth, high school and collegiate sports, as well as social gatherings, concerts, and community events.
