The Pima Community College men’s basketball team (6-16, 1-13 in conference) came back late in the second half but couldn’t grab the lead as the Aztecs lost 68-64 on Saturday against Eastern Arizona College at the West Campus. The coaches wore black or white shoes as part of Coaches vs. Cancer.

The Aztecs, at one point late in the second half, went on a 12-0 run and were able to force Eastern to turn the ball over on a few occasions. They had cut Eastern’s lead to 59-57 but down the stretch Eastern made eight straight free throws to help keep its lead.

Terrance Carroll (Cordova HS, TN) and Lawrence Pierce led the Aztecs scoring a combined 52 points. Carroll scored 22 of his 28 points in the second half and went 5 for 9 from beyond the arc. Pierce scored 14 of his 24 points in the second half and also grabbed eight rebounds.

The Aztecs will travel to Central Arizona College in Coolidge on Wednesday. The game will be at 7:30 p.m.
