PCC Women’s Cross Country Takes Third at Mt. SAC Invitational

The Pima Community College cross country teams competed in the Mt. SAC Cross Country Invitational on Friday in Walnut, Calif.

The women’s cross country team placed third out of 25 teams overall; 18 were scoring teams, with a score of 148. Only host San Antonio College (73) and Moorpark College (111) finished ahead of the Aztecs.

Nikki Regalado (Cienega HS) returned to competitive cross country in a big way finishing in sixth place out of 182 competitive runners in the five-kilometer (3.1 mile) race, with a time of 18 minutes, 53 seconds. This was her first race since the opening meet of the season at George Kyte Invitational in Flagstaff. Sarrah Boughan (Canyon del Oro HS) crossed the finish line in 24th with a time of 19:57. Col’Bi Nez (Alchesay HS) closed out the race in 35th with a time of 20:23.

In the men’s race, the Aztecs placed sixth out of 22 teams overall; 20 were scoring teams. Anthony Spendlove (Flagstaff HS) was the top finisher for the Aztecs closing out the eight-kilometer (4.97 mile) race in 15th place out of 186 runners with a time of 21:42. Peter Gonzalez (Desert View HS) closed out the race in 46th with a time of 22:42.

The Aztecs will be in town for the NJCAA Region I Championships on Oct. 28 at the El Rio Golf Course (1400 W. Speedway Blvd.). The men’s race will start at 9 a.m. and the women’s race will follow at 9:45 a.m. For more information, visit:
