The Tucson Padres collected seven hits against Fresno pitching Sunday but could only score once in the Grizzlies 4-1 win. Fresno's Andrew Kown beat the Padres for the third time in two seasons, pitching five innings, allowing just one run. Travis Blackley struck out five Padres in four innings and picked up his first save of the season.
Anthony Contreras hit an RBI triple in the fourth inning for the lone Tucson run. Contreras hit the Padres first home run of the season Saturday and is now batting .375. Tucson left six on base and had at least one baserunner in the first seven innings of the game. James Darnell and Beamer Weems each had two hits for the T-Pads.
Jorge Reyes suffered the loss in his Triple-A debut, allowing four runs, all earned in 4.2 innings. Sunday was the first home afternoon game for the Tucson Padres, who played all night games at home in 2011. Tucson's record is 1-3, while Fresno advances to 3-1.
