The Pima Community College women’s basketball team (9-7, 5-3 in conference) returned from its holiday layoff and took control early to defeat Tohono O’Odham Community College 72-49.
The Aztecs took a 35-18 lead at the break and came out strong to begin the second half. They hit six of their first seven shots and Felicia Foster (Peoria HS) knocked down three 3-pointers during that stretch. Pima led by as much as 32 points in the second half.
Raja Moreno-Ross (Tucson Magnet HS) scored 12 of her 20 points in the first half as she also secured eight rebounds and had four steals. Foster hit five 3-pointers for the game and finished with 17 points. Melody McLaughlin (Mountain View HS) finished with 10 points as she went 4 for 7 from field. She also had six assists and five steals. The Aztecs finished with 22 steals for the game.
This was the second straight game the Aztecs held a team to 49 points.
Pima will play at Cochise College in Douglas on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
