Hicks finished second with a score of 36. Ironwood Ridge won the event with 146 strokes, followed by Desert Vista at 151 and CDO 155.
Randy Metcalf/The Explorer, Ironwood Ridge High School's Alex McMahon chips onto the green a few feet from the hole after overshooting a par 3 hole last week at Oro Valley Country Club. McMahon finished with a 33, helping the Nighthawks win the match. McMahon, a senior, has been named to the HP Scholastic Junior All-America Team this week, one of 12 in the nation. Last weekend, he placed third in a major Phoenix tournament.
