PCC Baseball Scores Six in 5th Inning to Beat Douglas College

The Pima Community College baseball team (13-12-1) broke up a tie game by scoring six runs in the 5th inning to defeat Douglas College (British Columbia) 10-2 on Thursday in the second day of the Jack Howell Classic at the West Campus.

Luis Robles (Flowing Wells HS) hit a 2-run RBI single and then Devon Carrillo (Sahuaro HS) hit a 2-run RBI double to make it 6-2. Alec Beyersdorf (Catalina Foothills HS) contributed in the 5th inning as well hitting a 2-run RBI single to make it 8-2.

Carrillo also had an RBI single in the 6th inning. He finished the game 2 for 4 with three RBIs and a run scored. Down 2-0, Dylan Dyson (Flowing Wells HS) got the Aztecs on the board in the 1st inning with an RBI single that scored Bryant Muñoz. In the 4th inning, Muñoz tied the game with his RBI single that scored Zach Schira. Muñoz went 1 for 3 with two RBIs and two runs.

Anthony Badalucco (Canyon del Oro HS) got his first win of the season (1-0) after pitching five innings giving up two runs (two earned) on five hits with one strikeout and four walks. Sam Hamlett (Canyon del Oro HS) closed it out pitching two innings giving up three hits with four strikeouts and one walk.

The Aztecs will play early on Friday as they host Miles Community College (MT.) at 8 a.m. and GateWay Community College at 10:30 a.m.
