The volleyball team (4-7) picked up right where it left off at the West Campus’ Aztecs Gym on Friday after it defeated Mesa Community College in three games 25-19, 25-21, 25-10. The Aztecs beat West Coast Baptist College on Thursday.
In the first set, both teams kept the score close but Pima pulled away in the end. Leading 24-17 in the second set, the Aztecs had a bit of a scare when Mesa closed the gap to 24-21. The third set belonged to the Aztecs as they finished the match earning 10 straight set points.
For the second straight match, Cheryl Montague (Academy of Tucson HS) had 14 kills. She also added two blocks. Kendra Hall (Empire HS) and Kaylee Rakowski (Sahuarita HS) each had four blocks. Julia Escarcega (Rincon HS) finished with four aces and two blocks while Kami Humphrey (Canyon del Oro HS) contributed with 26 assists, four digs and three kills.
The Aztecs will be back on the road on Wednesday when they play at Chandler-Gilbert Community College at 7 p.m.
