The volleyball team (11-10) couldn’t come back from being down 0-2 as it lost to Glendale Community College in four sets (24-26, 18-25, 25-23, 21-25) on Wednesday at the West Campus’ Aztecs Gym. Glendale is ranked No. 2 in the NJCAA Division II National Poll.

The Aztecs trailed 8-15 in the first set and came back to tie it on a few occasions but couldn’t grab the lead. Pima led early in the second set but fell behind and couldn’t catch up. With the score tied 19-19 in the third set, the Aztecs broke it open with four straight points to lead 23-19 and held on to take it. Pima cut Glendale’s lead to 14-16 in the fourth set but that’s as close as the Aztecs would get.

Cheryl Montague (Academy of Tucson HS) led the team with 13 kills while Kendra Hall (Empire HS) contributed with 10 kills and four blocks. Kami Humphrey (Canyon del Oro HS) had 38 assists and two aces. Courtney Pitts (Catalina HS) finished with 27 digs.

The Aztecs will play at Central Arizona College in Coolidge on Friday at 7 p.m.
