Friday, July 4

• Independence Day is a hot one. Celebrate the way our Founding Fathers did — with a dip in the pool, during Oro Valley Municipal Pool’s Fourth of July Spectacular! The fun includes games, prizes, inflatables and relays. Details: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; 23 W. Calle Concordia; $2 for adults, 50 cents for kids; for more information, call 297-5279.

Saturday, July 5

• Relax in the pool with a free showing of “Ice Age 2,” during the Marana Parks and Recreation Department’s “Swim and a Movie,” weather permitting. Flotation devices will be offered. Details: 7 p.m.; 11555 W. Civic Center Drive; free for all ages; for more information, call 382-1950.

Monday, July 7

• Cool off and discover aquatic fun with water polo! The Monday/Wednesday/Friday lessons include equipment and welcome all skill levels. Free drop-in games follow Friday sessions. Tuesday, July 8

• Oh, those birds — and especially first thing in the morning! Beat them to the worm, on a bird watching walk through a riparian oasis. Binoculars are available or bring your own.
