PCC Women’s Basketball Opens Season With Victory

The women’s basketball team (1-0), ranked No. 6 in the NJCAA National Poll, defeated Frank Phillips College (Texas) 83-70 on Thursday in the first day of the Eastern Arizona Tournament.

The Aztecs had four players score in double figures. Sophomore center A’jha Edwards (Tombstone HS) earned her first double-double of the season finishing with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore guard DJ Davis (Tolleson HS) also finished with 14 points while fellow sophomore guard Ashlei Scott (Chandler HS) had 11. Desiree Phillips (Valley Vista HS) contributed with 10 points.

The Aztecs will close out the Eastern Arizona Tournament on Friday when they play South Plains College (Texas) at 1 p.m.
