PCC Cross Country Teams Compete in Goodyear

The cross country teams took part in the Grand Canyon Invitational in Goodyear at Estrella Mountain Regional Park on Saturday. The men’s team finished 9th out of 14 teams while the women’s team took 9th out of 13 teams.

In a field of 101 runners, the women’s team was led by Nikki Regalado (Cienega HS) who finished the 3.1 mile race in 32nd with a time of 20 minutes, 06 seconds. Esther Estrada (Nogales HS) took 40th with a time of 20:31 and Lucia Hernandez (Tucson HS) crossed the finish line at 20:39 which gave her 42nd. Coming into the race, the women’s team was ranked 7th in the NJCAA Division I Hill N Dale Cross Country rankings.

Tyler Stamp (Sabino HS) was the first Pima runner to cross the finish line in the men’s 5-mile race. He placed 31st out of 116 runners with a time of 26 minutes, 21 seconds which was a season personal best for him. Aren Maxwell (Flowing Wells HS) took 37th with a time of 26:48 and John Prillaman (Seymour HS) finished 43rd at 26:51. The men’s team were ranked 23rd in the NJCAA Division I Hill N Dale Cross Country rankings coming into the race.

The Aztecs will be in Walnut, CA on Friday when they compete in the Mt. SAC Cross Country Invitational.
