A number of Mountain View High School alumni are returning to the Northwest school over the next several months.
Olympic silver medalist Lacy Nymeyer, a 2004 MVHS graduate, will be in Tucson on Sept. 19 along with other Olympic and world championship swimmers to host the Swim Champions' Fitter and Faster Tour at Oro Valley Municipal Pool, 23 W. Calle Concordia.
The three-hour clinic tour (which moves to Phoenix on Sept. 20), will include instruction on a variety of techniques. In addition, participants get to race the Olympians and will also have an autograph and photo session.
"The goal for these clinics is to promote the sport of swimming in our community and help show local swimmers that their dreams can become reality," Nymeyer said in a recent e-mail. "By bringing the athletes they see on TV and in the magazines to their home pool, we hope for them to feel inspired and empowered toward their future success in swimming and in life."
The clinic will be split into two parts, "age group," which costs $75, and "masters" which costs $100, and a portion of the proceeds go to the USA Swimming Foundation.
