The first-ever Gladden Farms 10K and Half Marathon takes place this Saturday, Nov. 28, at the Gladden Farms Community Park in Marana.

Registration for the event begins at 7:30 a.m., with an 8 a.m. start. It'll be run on the major roadways of Gladden Farms.

Gladden Farms residents have formed many groups and clubs, including a Monday night, family-friendly 5K walking group. Members of that walking group are organizing this weekend's run and walk.

"Some of the runners and walkers from our core group have decided that they wanted to step up to a new challenge," said organizer Jennifer Lynn. "Through our weekly 5K, we have inspired many community members to commit to a healthy lifestyle and set a positive example for their families and friends."

A number of local businesses have provided sponsorships; there is no registration fee for participants.

To get a sign-up form, contact Jennifer Lynn at (520) 256-8109 or by e-mail at jenandkiley@hotmail.com. Registrations at the event are welcome.
