There's a party going on in Tucson this Saturday, Aug. 8, to honor University of Arizona basketball coach Lute Olson, and you're invited.
The Olson retirement ceremony extends from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the McKale Center.
Thirty-seven lettermen, including 13 current or former National Basketball Association standouts, headline the roster of players scheduled to attend the event. Among the expected guests are Mike Bibby, A.J. Bramlett, Jud Buechler, Sean Elliott, Reggie Geary, Andre Iguodala, Richard Jefferson, Steve Kerr, Khalid Reeves, Eddie Smith, Tom Tolbert, Luke Walton and Pete Williams.
Two of Olson's former players from his time at Iowa, Ronnie Lester and John Dorsee, also will attend. Former Michigan and Arizona State head coach Bill Frieder is also participating.
The Lute Olson retirement ceremony is free and open to the public. Doors open at 10 a.m.. Free parking is available in the Cherry Avenue Garage and surrounding lots.
