Recreation calendar for June 25 - July 1

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 25

• Register now for The Pines Golf Club at Marana’s youth golf lessons. The four-week program runs from July 1 to 23, teaching coordination, fundamentals, rules, sportsmanship — and fun! Bring a putter, iron and wood. Ages 5-16, costs vary from $20 to $50. Call 382-1950 for details.

SATURDAY, JUNE 28

• Just like us, senses are important to animals — to find food, shelter and mates. Youngsters can use their senses to explore the desert’s plant and animal world during the Sonoran Desert Kids’ Club: Experiencing Nature through the Senses tour. Details: 9 to 10:30 a.m.; Pima County Agua Caliente Park, 12325 E. Roger Road; free for kids ages 5-12 with their families; contact 615-7855 or eeducation@pima.gov.

SUNDAY, JUNE 29

• Members of the Oro Valley Mixed Doubles Tennis Group seek a few good backhands. Details: 7:30 a.m.; $5 ball fee every 10 weeks; Ironwood Ridge High School tennis courts, 2475 W. Naranja Drive; for more information, call 575-0829.

TUESDAY, JULY 1

• Oh, those birds — and especially first thing in the morning! Beat them to the worm, on a birdwatching walk through a riparian oasis. Binoculars are available, or bring your own. Details: 7:30 to 9 a.m.; Pima County Agua Caliente Park, 12325 E. Roger Road; free for all ages; contact 615-7855 or eeducation@pima.gov.
