The cross country teams competed in the 65th Annual Mt. SAC Cross Country Invitational in Walnut, CA on Friday as the women’s team took 6th place (164 points) in the rankings out of 26 teams. The men finished in 8th place (202 points) out of 21 teams.
In the women’s 3-mile race, two Pima runners finished in the top 20. Nikki Regalado (Cienega HS) was the top finisher for the Aztecs as she took 12th place out of 200 runners with a time of 19 minutes, 02 seconds. Jamie Shrader (Flagstaff HS) crossed the finish line in 18th place with a time of 19:11.
The men’s team placed two finishers in the top 30. Tyler Stamp (Sabino HS) had the top finish for the Aztecs in the men’s 4-mile race. Out of 207 runners, he finished 18th with a time of 21:40. Cruz Rodriguez (Empire HS) took 27th with a finish time of 21:49.
The Aztecs will compete in the NJCAA Region I Championships on Nov. 1 at Freestone Park in Gilbert, AZ.
