Baseball fans who bring two cans of food will be admitted free to the July 19th Tucson Padres game against the Tacoma Rainiers at Kino Stadium, 2500 E. Ajo Way.

The promotion is part of Community Food Bank Night. Gates open at 6 p.m.; the game gets under way at 7.

Community Food Bank donation boxes will be located at each entrance. The most-needed canned items are meats, vegetables, soups, fruit and tomato products.

“During the summer months the food bank’s donations are down, so we especially appreciate the Tucson Padres conducting this food drive for us,” said Bill Carnegie, the food bank’s president and CEO.

The Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona serves more than 225,000 people each month through all of its programs.

“When Triple-A baseball returned to Tucson and the Padres were formed, we made a commitment to get involved in the community,” said Mike Feder, the team’s vice president and general manager. “We are delighted to be involved in a project that will result in making sure needy families have enough to eat.”

For more information about the food bank, call Jack Parris at 882-3287.

Founded in 1976, the Community Food Bank provides

education, advocacy and food for people throughout Southern Arizona.
