The Pima Community College men’s soccer team (10-6-1, 10-6-1 in conference) could not maintain a pair of leads against Phoenix College, the No. 4 team in the country, as the game finished in a 2-2 tie on Thursday in the regular season home finale at the Kino North Grandstand.

The Aztecs jumped on the board first when Anthony Alvarez (Sunnyside HS) hit a shot to the right side of the goal in the 44th minute to put Pima up 1-0 at halftime. Phoenix College came back and tied the game in the 51st minute but not to be outdone, the Aztecs retook the lead in the 53rd when Garrett Andratta (Canyon del Oro HS) scored on an Alvarez corner kick inbound. Phoenix tied the game for good in the 81st minute.

The Aztecs managed three shots on goal for the game and Emmanuel Jimenez (Desert View HS) secured seven saves for the game.

The Aztecs will head back on the road on Saturday when they play at Arizona Western College in Yuma at 7 p.m.
