Tucson will be the location for a live taping of “From the Top with Christopher O’Riley” on Feb. 17 at the UA Centennial Hall.

The public is invited to attend the taping of the program that for the past decade has been the preeminent showcase for America’s best young musicians. Heralded by the San Francisco Chronicle as, “contemporary culture’s feel-good success story,” the program shares the stories and performances of pre-collegiate musicians ages eight to 18 with millions each week.

At the heart of “From the Top’s” mission is the belief that young people can make an important contribution to the world by sharing who they are and what they love to do. The Chicago Tribune wrote, “The most original and popular classical music program in the history of public radio.”

Based in Boston, “From the Top” is an independent non-profit organization that celebrates the power of music in the hands of extraordinary young people, reaching more than one million people each year.

These musicians are role models for all ages, proving the value of hard work in the pursuit of excellence. With “From the Top’s” support, they are inspiring and building audiences with a new appreciation for classical music.

Now in it’s 13th season, “From the Top” on NPR, is one of the most popular weekly music series on public radio. The show reaches more than 700,000 loyal listeners on 250 stations across the country.

“From the Top” has taped more than 260 radio broadcasts in America’s premier concert halls – reaching more than 200,000 live audience members in 141 U.S. cities and two international cities.

The live taping in Tucson will be held at UA Centennial Hall, located at 1020 E. University Dr. The show will be held on Sunday, Feb. 17, starting at 4 p.m.

Tickets range between $15 and $40. For tickets, call 621-8825.
