To call director Ang Lee’s latest film “Life of Pi” a visual feat of magnificent proportions would be an understatement.

In what’s been an otherwise tremendous year for movies, 2012 still brought us quite a few stinkers nevertheless. One general question film critics are asked is how they feel when ripping a movie apart. It may sound mean-spirited and arrogant to criticize a movie that a lot of people invested their time and money into. Anybody that has endured the 10 movies listed below however can understand that such criticisms are justified.

Rated: PG. Running time: 1 hour, 35 minutes. 3 stars.

It's never been more true than with Louis Leterrier's "Clash of the Titans. Let me establish now that I absolutely hated this film. Now that that's off of my chest, let the ranting begin.

PG for thematic elements, scary images, some language and suggestive humor. 100 min. Two and a half stars out of four.

Rated PG-13 for some violence and a scene of sensuality. 121 minutes. One and a half stars out of four.

(NAPSI)—Watching movies and sports in the comfort of your own home is a great way to spend time with family and friends-and now it can be even better.

Even though “The Great Gatsby” has gotten the movie treatment several times in the past, no film adaptation has ever really stood out as the definitive version of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s celebrated novel. Director Baz Luhrmann’s film is certainly the most visually arresting interpretation of “The Great Gatsby” ever produced. Catherine Martin, who previously worked with Luhrmann on “Moulin Rouge,” “Romeo and Juliet,” and “Australia,” deserves multiple Oscar nominations for her hyper sets and eye-popping costumes. As wonderful as Luhrmann’s “Great Gatsby” is to look at, the enchanting visuals are also ironically the movie’s downfall. In the midst of the art direction, costumes, and music, the story and characters that made Fitzgerald’s book a classic, become a mere afterthought. 

One of the world’s most renowned directors is Steven Spielberg, the man behind such films as the “Indiana Jones” movies, “Jurassic Park,” “E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial,” “Schindler’s List,” and many others.

Most movie theaters claim to have the best sound system, the best screens and the best shot of seeing any movie in high definition.

'How to Train Your Dragon'

The men in black are back, as Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones have teamed up for the third movie of the popular series. While critics say the third movie is safe, it still fits nicely into what has now become a trilogy.

The increasingly intense desert heat is a tell tale sign that summer is nearly upon us, and with it, the obligatory season of blockbuster films. With a jam packed lineup that includes Iron Man 3, Star Trek Into Darkness, Fast and Furious 6, Man of Steel, Pacific Rim, and World War Z, it is clear that big time producers in LA are gearing up to entice audiences with the usual explosions, car chases, zombie attacks, space battles, and robot wars, all enhanced by the technological advancements of 3D cameras. But despite the current technological prowess that is obtainable to all filmmakers with money to burn, we have reached an age where the standard gimmicks may no longer be sufficient for the 21st century viewer.

Words don’t really do justice in attempting to describe the wondrous array of misfits and monsters Guillermo del Toro has concocted in “Hellboy II: The Golden Army.” Truly, his is a world you have to experience for yourself to appreciate it fully — if you dare, that is.

Chances are that if you read my column regularly, you already know how I feel about remakes. If you don’t, well let me fill you in: I abhor them. I hate them with a passion. I personally believe they are single-handedly going to destroy Hollywood because they take away from the creativity and unique ideas that the city was once home too.
