Food items are piled onto shelves and willing hands pack numerous bags of food at the Marana Community Food Bank, as the facility has become busier than ever with the holidays just around the corner. The food bank’s 130 volunteers and small staff are continually unloading, assembling and distributing food on a daily basis.

Marana Water customers with a service address zip code of 85653, 85658 or those who do not have sewer charges on their statements received an incorrect bill in the mail for May 2013. The statement they received was a copy of the bill due on March 8, 2013.

The Marana Community Food Bank received a $5,000 TRICO Electric Cooperative Power Grant. The grant has been used to purchase peanut butter with help from the Fry’s Food Store #689 at Tangerine and Thornydale roads.

The Town of Marana has a new vice mayor. During the June 21 town
council meeting, Councilwoman Patti Comerford was unanimously
selected to replace Herb Kai, who had served in that position for
more than 10 years. Kai nominated Comerford for the position.
