Every year, approximately ten thousand animals lose their lives at our County shelter. For many, it is not because of a terminal illness or severe injury, but for something easily cured or mended. The numbers are overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be this way. Almost two hundred communities across the country have ended the unnecessary deaths. The people of Pima County can do it, too.

Following a swearing-in ceremony for the re-elected Bob Stump, and the newly elected Bob Burns and Susan Bitter Smith, members of the Arizona Corporation Commission today voted to name Bob Stump as Chairman of the Commission. Stump has served on the Commission since 2009 and his term as Chairman will be two years.

A report by an economic consultant commissioned by the Arizona State Land Department says that state trust land adjacent to acreage being considered for sale to Union Pacific Railroad (UP) for a switching yard would be affected by the sale and that infrastructure improvements to adjacent land should be paid for by the purchaser of the rail yard property.
