Two more streets and an additional project date have been added to the previously-announced road closures in the Desert Vista Neighborhood. N. Twin Spur Court and W. Starting at 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29 2013, Pima County Department of Transportation along with their contractor, Granite Construction Company, will be closing Alvernon Way/Contractor’s Way from Ajo Way to Aviation Parkway for 24 hours. The contractor will be performing minor asphalt work, fog seal coating, and striping to complete the two-mile bike lane project on Alvernon Way/Contractor’s Way from Ajo Way to 29th Street. The roadway will re-open at 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 30.

Starting Monday, October 22, through Friday, October 26, 2012, the Pima County Department of Transportation, Regional Transportation Authority and their contractor, Ashton Company, will be closing Mona Lisa Road at Magee Road to remove existing asphalt and reconstruct the intersection for final paving.

The following streets will be closed from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM on October 22, 2012: Morning Moonlight Lane, Floating Feather Lane, and Silent Dove Way. The streets will be receiving an asphalt preservation treatment. If inclement weather occurs, the project will be rescheduled and residents will be re-notified. Join the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona’s “Hunger Walk” 2012 presented by Casino Del Sol Resort on Saturday, Sept. 29, to help make a difference in the fight against hunger in Southern Arizona. The triple-digit temperatures are here, and so is the threat of a fire starting at any given moment. While fire officials put in nicely in asking the public to be vigilante in these dry summer months, this column will be a little more blunt. The bottom line being, use common sense and respect the land you are using for camping, living or driving.Those of you who smoke, use your ashtray. I still get annoyed when I’ve driving down the interstate in there’s an idiot flicking a cigarette butt out of the window. As the ashes stumbled along the asphalt, I find myself wishing that this is one of those moments where a cop is strategically placed in order to stop them immediately and fine them as much money as possible for putting lives and land in danger.

month. They also should use extra caution when approaching a work
area or a wash during a rainstorm.
