Arizona Theatre Company (ATC) closes its 2012-2013 season with the eagerly anticipated Arizona premiere of  Bruce Norris’ multi-award-winning, provocative new comedy, “Clybourne Park”. Performances commence in Tucson for three weeks and continue to Phoenix for an additional three weeks. 

It is an awe-inspiring spectacle to witness more than 600 occupants of Tucson’s Temple of Music and Art in silent wonder.  Hushed, enchanted, and utterly captive to the drab one-bedroom apartment set before them, where two obdurate has-been performers go to war with one another’s eccentricities. This is the power that writer Neil Simon possesses in his pen. To completely conquer hearts and minds through a play that was first performed more than 40 years ago, and to master the union of drama and comedy through his production “The Sunshine Boys”. 

Arizona Theatre Company (ATC) brings Neil Simon’s comic masterpiece about show business, friendship and growing old, “The Sunshine Boys” to Arizona audiences.  David Ira Goldstein directs one of Neil Simon’s most beloved and acclaimed plays in ATC’s new production that will premiere in Tucson for three weeks of performances.  ATC’s “The Sunshine Boys” opens at the Temple of Music and Art, running from March 1 through March 23. 

Arizona Theatre Company (ATC) provides Arizona audiences an electrifying evening of high-stakes intellectual sparring in Mark St. Germain’s “Freud’s Last Session.” Having played to record-breaking off-Broadway crowds, St. Germain continues with Arizona performances of “Freud’s Last Session” at the Temple of Music and Art, running from Jan. 19 – Feb. 9. 

The Arizona Theatre Company scores big in it’s newest release, with “Emma” entertaining audiences with plenty of comedy, a well done script and superior acting. 

The Arizona Theatre Company presents the Arizona Premiere of “Jane Austen’s Emma” a new romantic musical comedy that brings Jane Austen’s masterpiece to life. “Jane Austen’s Emma” plays at the Temple of Music and Art and runs through Dec. 22. 

Fresh off the smash hit, “39 Steps,” the Arizona Theater Company is ready to please audiences again with the introduction of “The Great Gatsby,” which opened in Tucson on Feb. 25, and will play through March 17.

Green Fields students to perform Neil Simon play

As a rule, I don’t give many performances a standing ovation. Most are received as kind gestures from an audience filled with the relatives of the people on stage, who usually possess more enthusiasm than talent.

Witness murder, mayhem and deception unfold in Arizona Theatre Company’s world premiere thriller, Sherlock Holmes and the Adventure of The Suicide Club. Commissioned by ATC, playwright Jeffrey Hatcher brings the famous detective alive in an original tale full of intrigue, twists and chills.

Tucson theatergoers are now able to purchase single tickets to all performances in Arizona Theatre Company’s 2011-2012 season.

Arizona Theatre Company and Local First Arizona will host a networking mixer at The Temple Lounge of the Temple of Music and Art on Thursday, Aug. 18, from 5 to 6:45 p.m. to launch the performing arts season.

Yes, Arizona Theatre Company’s production of “The Mystery of Irma Vep” is silly and at times quite bawdy. But it’s also a lot of fun.

This week's review is a little bit different. I was lucky enough to be chosen to be a Teen Critic for the Arizona Theatre Company, so once a month I'll review the latest show ATC is presenting. This month's show is "The Kite Runner," one of the best stage performances I have ever seen.
