Pima Community College Music presents a concert featuring vocal music faculty Jonathan Ng, tenor. The program features art songs by Beethoven, “Bel Canto” repertoire from Handel’s oratorios and operas, and music by Renaissance composers performed by male quartet. Joining Dr. Ng, countertenor, in the male quartet are Jose “Chach” Snook, countertenor; Stephen Warner, tenor; and Darryl King, bass. The recital also includes performers Krista Flora, soprano, and Suzanne Eanes, pianist.

Growing up as an only child in a musical family, Michael Veres knew Beethoven and Bach before he happened on to Led Zepplin and Pink Floyd. His father is a retired Orchestra Director, Laslo Veres, and his mother a former singer with the Tucson Opera Company; now a voice teacher. One would think that Michael’s passion would be in performing arts, but instead he loves to cook and started doing so as a child.

Soloists for the 2012-2013 Southern Arizona Symphony Orchestra season, include seven professional guest artists. All soloists are traditional instrumentalists/voices, and include pianist-soprano-violist-mezzo soprano-female vocal quartet-flutist-violinist, and a skilled amateur Youth Concerto Competition winner to be selected in March. Every concert will feature at least one soloist. In addition, Orhan Saliel from Turkey will be guest conductor for the second program on Nov. 17 and Nov. 18.

Classical pianist Dr. Alexander Tentser and his wife, Anna Gendler, a violinist with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra, will perform love songs by Bach, Beethoven, and other classical composers during a special concert to benefit Interfaith Community Services. The couple performs at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 20 at Rincon Congregation United Church of Christ where Dr. Tentser is the accompanist.

Music director and conductor George Hanson will conduct the
Tucson Symphony MasterWorks Chamber Orchestra in Virtuoso Violin
and Haydn on Saturday, March 5 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, March 6 at 2
p.m. at Catalina Foothills High School, 4300 E. Sunrise Drive. The
program will feature TSO Concertmaster Aaron Boyd performing Henri
Vieuxtemps’ Concerto No. 5 for Violin and conclude with Franz
Joseph Haydn’s popular Symphony No. 92, “Oxford.” Beethoven’s
Overture to Coriolan will open the program. An additional
performance of Virtuoso Violin and Haydn will be presented Friday,
March 4 at 8 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 7650 N.
