(BPT) - Most parents know that kids are safest in a car when buckled up. But there are situations when families decide to take a risk by not buckling up their children on every ride. A new survey reveals one in four parents admits to not buckling up their child in the car.

(NAPSI)—How many times have you tried to accelerate onto a freeway with cars zipping by and couldn’t get the power to do it safely? It’s kind of scary, right? Or how about when the van’s filled with kids you’re taking to a soccer game and the super-slow-going uphill quickly turns the trip downhill. It’s kind of frustrating, right? The problem isn’t your driving. Most likely, it’s something lacking from what you’re driving: automotive performance. You don’t have to be a car nut, watch “Pimp My Ride” reruns religiously or have a “Fast & Furious” tattoo to know your vehicle is underpowered. All you need to do is step on the gas and wait and wait...and worry.

On Aug. 2 a new state law requiring children under age eight to be restrained in a booster seat will take effect.
Not meeting the four foot, 10-inch height requirement, six-year-old Amy Grimes will now be sitting in a booster seat in accordance with the new state law.
Kelsey Zormeier is one of the children who will be impacted by the new booster-seat law. The five-year-old had no problem buckling up last week. The new law, which requires children between ages four and eight, goes into effect on Aug. 2.
