Local fundraising professional and nature photographer Howard Paley will present his second photographic exhibition of the year at the Tucson Jewish Community Center’s Fine Art Gallery (River and Dodge), June 20 through July 17. A special artist reception will be held on Thursday, June 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. This exhibition, entitled "First Impressions," will feature some of Paley’s finest work and showcase the natural beauty of Tucson, southern Arizona and a few other surprises. Paley describes his treks and immersion in nature as cathartic, transformative and spiritually uplifting.

On June 14, the Catalina Mountain Elks Lodge #2815 and SaddleBrooke HOA #1 hosted an annual Flag Day ceremony.

Although there are several town-owned parks in Oro Valley, Rancho Vistoso is no slouch in the parks department!

"Whether I'm at home or abroad, I see each new scene as a still life, a moment in time in a landscape: a tractor posing patiently in the sun, or a pattern of light in a mountain sunset," Jane Barton stated.

The Forest Service has temporarily closed a portion of a popular trail in the Catalina Mountains for public safety due to a mountain lion’s behavior.

The Elks National Foundation’s Most Valuable Student (MVS) Scholarship Program recognizes top students across the country based on their academic achievements, leadership skills, extracurricular activities, and their participation in community services. 

The Pima Community College track & field teams each took second place and produced five more region champions on Thursday in the final day of the Region I Championships at Mesa Community College. The Aztecs had nine total region champions to close out competition.

From a nesting owl inside one of Catalina State Park’s many Saguaro cactus, to the majestic and colorful views of the mountains from the park’s hiking trails, there is plenty to see in the popular state park.

Its been 30 years since Catalina State Parks opened in the Coronado National Forest north of Oro Valley.

Catalina State Park is a 5,500-acre gem, which attracts tens of thousands of visitors each year. They are drawn by views of the soaring Catalina Mountains, the miles of hiking and biking trails, the overnight camping and equestrian areas and the rich and varied program of activities organized by Park rangers and volunteers.

Oracle State Park, a 4,000-acre wildlife refuge and a center for environmental education, is located in the northern foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains north of Tucson. Ranging from 3,700 to 4,600 feet in elevation, the surrounding landscape transitions from oak woodland to desert grassland, with sweeping views all around.

The Pima Community College women’s tennis team (13-4, 6-2 in conference) finished the regular season on a high note on Thursday defeating Paradise Valley Community College 9-0 at the Tucson Racquet Club.
