Since spring 2012, Catalina State Park has enjoyed the enthusiastic support of the Friends of Catalina State Park (FOCSP), which is mobilizing support and raising money for projects and activities at the Park.

Due to the high risk of wildfire in southeastern Arizona, State Forester Scott Hunt today announced that the Arizona State Forestry Division will be implementing fire restrictions for 3.5 million acres of state-owned lands in that region.

August 24, 2005 - What started as a plan to improve land that was devastated by flood and fire a few years ago has turned into a contentious issue in one northern Pima County community over exactly how that land should be redeveloped.

Catalina State Park is a 5,500-acre gem, which attracts tens of thousands of visitors each year. Developers offering to donate land as an enticement for approval of their housing project have divided the Village of Catalina between neighbors who say the donation will bring much needed social services to the community and those who believe the development will bring a host of problems and destroy the rural character of Catalina forever.

On January 5, 2013, a series of BEYOND events will be held throughout Pima County to remember those who lost their lives in the January 8, 2011 shootings, as well as those whose lives have been changed forever. BEYOND was launched by the Zimmerman family in honor of their son Gabe Zimmerman, who lost his life that day.

On Sunday around 1:40 p.m., the Pima County Sheriff's Department recieved a 9-1-1 call from a 50-year-old female hiker in distress at Catalina State Park.
