After Pima County Supervisor Ally Miller, District 1, couldn’t get fellow board members to approve more study sessions to review the proposed $1.26 billion with the public, she didn’t quit.

Marana voters spoke loud and clear in the town’s March 12 Primary Election.

The Pima County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Tuesday to oppose the construction of a new international natural gas pipeline west of the Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge, saying the project will create a “de facto highway” that will jeopardize public safety by increasing border and law enforcement security problems.

Just under a month ago, Pima County Supervisor Ally Miller, Dist. 1, was sworn into office after a hard-fought election with a lot of promises of change and accountability.

Pending voter approval in March, the Marana Wastewater Reclamation Facility could, after years of litigation, become the property of the Town of Marana. 

More than 1,000 kids and adults of all ages and abilities on bikes and on foot joined “Grey’s Anatomy” star Patrick Dempsey and top American pro cyclist Tom Danielson at the free Ride On, Tucson! bike party in Armory Park on Sunday, Jan. 20.

Pima County Administrator Chuck Huckelberry advised the Bond Advisory Committee Friday against seeking voter support for new investments in jobs, roads, parks and other amenities until 2014 at the earliest.

Pima County Natural Resources, Parks and Recreation staff are installing 124 new signs on the Rillito River Park portion of The Loop this month. Signs provide directions at intersections and also show distances to points of interest along The Loop.

After years of dispute over control of the Marana Wastewater Reclamation Facility, the Pima County Board of Supervisors is calling for an end to further litigation with the Town of Marana, recently extending two separate settlement offers.

Pima County on Tuesday became the first local jurisdiction to support a series of joint business objectives designed to stimulate economic activity in the region by shaping a cooperative working relationship with the private sector.

The Arizona Supreme Court has declined to hear the Town of Marana’s case relating to a ballot measure that would have allowed the municipality to own and operate a wastewater facility without seeking voter approval in next year’s town elections. 

The Metropolitan Pima Alliance presented Pima County a Common Ground Award for The Loop and Share Use Path Extension and Underpass at Cortaro Road. The underpass provides easy off-street access to Wade McLean Park and El Rio Park in Marana. The County received the award in the Public Works category.

Well, what do you know? It turns out there is something more aggravating than a broken record. It’s a broken record that routinely parrots back wrong information that lacks context and then holds it up to be the truth.

The numbers we should all be concerned about: 23% is the largest portion of our workforce in Pima County.  This sector works in the service industry. Followed by Government sector at 19%.

Creating an aerospace and defense park and ensuring the future strength of Raytheon Missile Systems and Davis-Monthan Air Force Base are the centerpieces of an economic blueprint released this week to foster robust job growth in Pima County.

While the fate of the Marana Wastewater Treatment Facility has yet to be legally determined, Pima County and the Town of Marana continue to disagree on issues outside of the courtroom.

Following the latest ruling by the Arizona Court of Appeals,  the Town of Marana may take litigation to the Arizona Supreme Court in its battle with Pima County over control of the Marana Wastewater Treatment Facility.

As the Town of Marana and Pima County continue to battle for possession of the Marana Wastewater Reclamation Facility, a recent ruling by the Arizona Court of Appeals has the county optimistic about the potential outcome.

It might surprise you that I agree with Marana Town Manager Gilbert Davidson regarding the importance of managing water resources.  Water is a vital resource for future growth and development.  However, I completely disagree with the Town’s strategy to take over Pima County’s wastewater facilities for this purpose.
