    The Southern Arizona Buffelgrass Coordination Center (SABCC) hosted a bus tour of Tucson International Airport property on Friday, Nov. 30, where buffelgrass will be removed using a $2.5 million federal grant awarded to Pima County and the airport. Pima County contributed $145,500 in matching funds, with TIA contributing a $706,000 match. The grant is part of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s pre-disaster mitigation program.

    Michael Hunter, the Governor’s Director of Legislative Affairs, will transition to a new role as Director of Policy. He will remain the Governor’s Special Advisor on Tax Policy and Reform. Mr. Hunter replaces Page Gonzales, who has accepted a position as Chief of Staff to Maricopa County Supervisor-elect Steve Chucri. Being promoted into the role of Director of Legislative Affairs is Lorna Romero, who has served as Deputy Director to Mr. Hunter since August 2011.

    On Monday, Pima County announced they have finished counting the provisional and early ballots from the Nov. 6 election. The Pima County Board of Supervisors has scheduled a special meeting Nov. 26 at 9 a.m. to certify the election results.
