The fire department made an appearance at the celebration to jokingly say it would be a fire code violation to light that many candles, and to give Clark a ride in a fire truck.

    Will Clark, who will turn 108 years old on Aug. 17, walks himself out to ride in one of Golder Ranch Fire District’s vehicles last week during a party. The festival was held for him at his home, Fairwinds Desert Point.

    At 85, Henry “Hank” Oyama has changed the face of bilingual education, fought unfair laws against interracial marriage, and served his community well. Oyama is spending his retired years at the Fairwinds – Desert Point Retirement Community in Oro Valley.
