Several themes are evident in the newly announced UApresents 2013-2014 season, with more shows being offered in the Tucson community and many presentations geared toward young adults and families.

(BPT) - Now that spring has sprung, drivers will be hitting the road in earnest to enjoy the warmer weather. In fact, according to Hankook Tire’s latest Quarterly Gauge Index, 56 percent of Americans are planning to take a road trip that involves driving 50 miles or more. On average, they estimate they will drive 1,025 miles. What is it about spring - besides the obvious pleasurable weather - that has so many people hitting the road?

In a unanimous vote on Wednesday, the Oro Valley Town Council made official the annexation of 107 acres in the northwest area of Ina and Oracle roads. The three-year process came to a close earlier this month after the town secured more than the required support of 50 percent of the area property owners, representing more than 50 percent of the assessed property valuation.

Despite a struggling national economy, the 2013-2014 fiscal year budgets are looking optimistic for the northwest towns of Oro Valley and Marana.

The Arizona International Film Festival, which highlights new films by independent filmmakers will be showing films at DesertView on April 23 and April 30 at 2:15 and 7 p.m. The same films are shown at both times and admission to either screening is $3 (cash only).

An increasingly popular fine art show has found a fitting home in one of Tucson's most elegant and timeless places.

The first-ever Marana Main Street Festival was held over the weekend with plenty of entrants in the bed race and plenty of fun, food and sun in the streets. Spearheaded by town staff and local business owner Teri Murphy, the event is designed to familiarize residents with an area of Marana that was once considered downtown before the introduction of Interstate 10 in the 1960s cut through the area’s development plans.

Catalina State Park’s 30th anniversary celebration will be held on May 4, 2013.

Steam Pump Ranch Settlers’ Day Spring Festival

The weather is warming up and everyone wants to get outside and have fun. The Town’s Parks and Recreation Department is teaming with the community to host events that guarantee good times for the entire family.

The second annual Park Place Chalk Art Festival will be a true community collaboration of the arts. It will be held Saturday, April 6 and Sunday, April 7. Local established artists, amateur artists, students, children and attendees will all participate in the festival to transform Park Place sidewalks into colorful works of art. The space will stretch from the Total Wine and Sears's entryways to the front of Macy's Department Store.
