State Fire Marshal Provides Important Safety Tips to Prevent Injury & Fire

While many Americans are planning to celebrate our nation’s independence over the 4th of July weekend, local fire officials are preparing for problems that could happen now that the Arizona legislature has made some fireworks legal.

Northwest resident Barbara Loving captured a few shots of the fireworks set off at the Hilton Tucson El Conquistador Golf and Tennis Resort. She said she took her shots with a Nikon d90 after taking a single photography class.

The dry summer months have arrived, and with them come the increased risk of fires starting. For the Town of Oro Valley, the threat is considered serious enough to reenact a ban on consumer fireworks.

Following advice from local fire officials, the Oro Valley Town Council unanimously voted Wednesday night to place a temporary ban on consumer fireworks.
