Northwest Fire District crews were called to the 6500 hundred block of West Ina Road just before 6 a.m. after a car struck an above ground three-quarter-inch high pressure gas line. The gas line pressure was 350 psi.

Rural/Metro Firefighters in the Catalina Foothills responded to a residential structure fire at approximately 2 a.m.this morning in the 7100 block of north Finger Rock Place. While en route first arriving engine crews reported smoke and flames visible from blocks away. Making their way in this gated, picturesque neighborhood and up a narrow driveway, firefighters found a fire on the upstairs patio where investigators have determined the cause to be an unattended built in barbecue grill. The heat melted the shut off valve and fire from the pressurized gas lines created direct flame impingement on the home.

Northwest Fire crews were dispatched at 0631 today to the Casas Adobes Pet Clinic for a possible Isoflourane gas leak. Isoflourane is an anesthetic used during pet surgeries. Arriving early to open the clinic, an employee heard the “hissing” of the gas, experienced burning to her eyes, and noted slight dizziness. She immediately evacuated the clinic and called 9-1-1.

On Wednesday, June 23, at 4:30 p.m., Oro
Valley police responded to a report of a gas leak on the 200 block
of West Milbrae Springs Drive. Golder Ranch Fire District and
Southwest Gas Corporation officials were also called to the scene
where a resident said a contractor doing work at his property might
have inadvertently ruptured a gas line. The resident was evacuated
while southwest Gas officials assessed the damage and made the
necessary repairs. The fix was estimated to cost about $1,000.
