Fraud Unit detectives have been made aware of a new ATM scam. Scammers put counterfeit or stolen checks into another person’s bank account. The suspects then borrow the accountholder’s debit card number and pin number and withdraw money from the bank before the bank learns that the check was fraudulent.

Dove of Peace Lutheran Church’s immensely popular free series of classical music concerts under artistic director Eric Holtan kicks off its ninth season with a new year’s concert featuring the music of Mozart on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2 p.m. The concert, featuring professional instrumentalists from the Tucson Symphony Orchestra and Tucson Chamber Artists and special guests will benefit Interfaith Community Services.

In August 2012 the Interfaith Community Services Food Bank assisted more than 1,900 households. With fall and the holidays approaching, the number of people turning to the ICS Food Bank is expected to grow significantly.

The new food bank at Interfaith Community Services (ICS) on Ina
Road is under construction. The 2,700-square-foot facility will
replace an existing 400-square-foot ICS Food Bank. The estimated
cost of the project is $500,000.
