The latest voter registration figures are out and according to Secretary of State Ken Bennett, Arizona has 3,145,973 registered voters, a decrease of 5,642 since the last report in March.

With only 42 days left until the 2012 general election, Secretary of State Ken Bennett offered a series of other election related numbers: 16, 14, 9 and 1. Sixteen days until early voting begins; 14 days left to register; 9 cases of suspected voter fraud; and 1 every single vote counts.

Arizona Voices, an innovative electronic platform to encourage civic engagement, was unveiled at the state capitol today by Secretary of State Ken Bennett and state Senator Bob Worsley. Arizona is the first state in the US to host a website of this kind. On www.azvoices.gov, registered voters are allowed to vote on bills in the legislature and discuss the issues impacting our state with fellow Arizonans and elected officials.

Secretary of State Ken Bennett has appointed Joan Clark of Chandler as Arizona’s new state librarian. Clark was chosen after an exhaustive nationwide search and replaces GladysAnn Wells who in retired in 2011. The State Library, Archives and Public Records is a division of the Secretary of State’s office and serves the legislature and public by providing access to research and information; additionally, it works to ensure Arizona's history is documented and preserved.

According to Ken Bennett, Arizona’s Secretary of State, the total number of registered voters has risen by 2,302 to 3,227,819. While the state’s major political parties experienced a decrease, the number of voters not affiliated with any party, commonly known as independent voters, increased from 1,075,334 to 1,085,237.
