Sept. 1, 2004 - Pima County School Superintendent Linda Arzoumanian declared a governing board vacancy in the Marana Unified School District Aug. 27 due to the resignation of board member Sandi Nielson.

The Pima County School Superintendent’s Office last week posted statements by area governing board candidates online, in preparation for the Nov. 4 election.

Sylvia M. Lee, Ph.D. and Marty Cortez will be sworn in as  Pima Community College Governing Board members during the Board’s Annual Meeting at 5 p.m. Jan. 9 in the Community Board Room of PCC’s District Office, 4905 E. Broadway.

On Tuesday, Arizona voters will be voting on the primary candidates they want to see move on to the General Election, and based on early numbers, many residents have already spoken.

On March 9, 2010, voters in the Marana Unified School District decide whether to approve a 15 percent budget override for district maintenance and operations, a decision that could add $3.1 million annually to the district's budget.

Five candidates are competing to become the supervisor for District 1 in Pima County after current supervisor Ann Day steps down later this year.

The past came back to haunt Amphitheater Public Schools last month when the district received a letter from the Arizona Office of the Auditor General giving the district until April 30 to correct deficiencies in accounting procedures as noted in an external audit covering fiscal year 2000-2001.

Sept. 29, 2004 - Two former Marana school board members, a former district principal, a former district swimming coach, a parent and a software engineer have all filed as write-in candidates for the Nov. 2 election to fill the Marana Unified School District Governing Board vacancy left by Sandi Nielson.

Aug. 11, 2004 - The upcoming Marana Unified School District governing board election heated up last week when three Marana residents filed the necessary paperwork to join the race.

Nov. 10, 2004 - Controversy continued to linger the week after the Nov. 2 Marana Unified School District governing board election. Two of the three incumbents lost their bids for re-election, and the board president is now challenging a winner's eligibility to serve on the governing board.
