The Forest Service has temporarily closed a portion of a popular trail in the Catalina Mountains for public safety due to a mountain lion’s behavior.

The Pusch Ridge Lions track team continued to dominate in Division IV. The girls’ team was named state champions for the second consecutive year.

A few weeks ago it was Ironwood Ridge’s Alex Rapp who slugged three homers out of the park. Then, Erin Rocker knocked two out of the park against Pueblo last Monday.

As softball playoffs approach, a similar picture is emerging from last year as Canyon Del Oro and Ironwood Ridge High School continue to compete for the top spot in Division II play.

When Donnie Perdue of Pusch Ridge hit the ball towards the left-field fence, it looked like his home run would change the momentum in a game where the Lions mostly trailed. 

Each year the Town of Marana holds signature events. These are staples of the community and are a great way to experience all the town has to offer.

To say the Dorados’ bats were hot would be an understatement. The current D-2 state softball titleholder, Canyon Del Oro looked playoff ready as the team knocked in 23 runs en route to a 23-11 victory over the Mountain View Mountain Lions last Thursday.

Mountain View pitcher Colton Wheeler was a breath away from being pulled from the mound on Tuesday evening when the Mountain Lions squared off against the Amphitheater Panthers.

The Canyon Del Oro and Mountain View girls basketball teams each won first-round playoff games at home in the state playoffs. Unfortunately, both teams fell in the second round.

It’s proving to be quite the year for Ironwood Ridge.
