In a unanimous vote on Wednesday, the Oro Valley Town Council made official the annexation of 107 acres in the northwest area of Ina and Oracle roads. The three-year process came to a close earlier this month after the town secured more than the required support of 50 percent of the area property owners, representing more than 50 percent of the assessed property valuation.

While the Town of Oro Valley will retain all current council members until at least June of next year, the Town of Marana will have a busy election season come March, when four incumbents and two challengers will compete to earn a seat on council. 

The Town of Marana continues to strive toward innovation with its still-developing Asset Management Program.

With the Primary Election over, many races will start gaining more attention as candidates focus on the Nov. 6 General Election where more than just the U.S. President will be decided.

Next week, what’s left of voters who did not take advantage of the early ballot will head to the polls for the special election in Congressional District 8. Luckily for the residents of Oro Valley and Marana they will only be represented by the winner of this election for just over six months. The campaign between Ron Barber and Jesse Kelly says a lot about how the winner will represent the district once he is in Washington. Both candidates have been extremely negative in their campaigning. Winning may be important, but the constant negative ads from them, the organizations that support them and in every other campaign is getting out of hand.
