Next week, what’s left of voters who did not take advantage of the early ballot will head to the polls for the special election in Congressional District 8. Luckily for the residents of Oro Valley and Marana they will only be represented by the winner of this election for just over six months. The campaign between Ron Barber and Jesse Kelly says a lot about how the winner will represent the district once he is in Washington. Both candidates have been extremely negative in their campaigning. Winning may be important, but the constant negative ads from them, the organizations that support them and in every other campaign is getting out of hand.

with. The former head coach of the Arizona Wildcats had a
reputation for throwing sideline temper tantrums, which either
amused or embarrassed local fans.

August 31, 2005 - Jordan Powell capped off an outstanding high
school career this summer with three solid meets on and near the
West Coast. Before heading to the University of Arizona to compete
for the Wildcat track and field program this fall, Powell had some
unfinished business to attend to. First up, at the 30th Great
Southwest Classic held at the University of New Mexico in
Albuquerque, Powell knocked off the No. 1 seed in the Southwest
with a wind-aided long jump of 24 feet, 1 inch. The jump was the
third longest in the country in 2005 for his age group and gave him
first place in the meet against athletes from Arizona, Colorado,
New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Texas and Utah.
