  14. article Obamaness leaves much to be desired

    Monday, October 22, 2012 9:06 am

Is being thin-skinned part of the Muslim culture? In 2006, a Danish newspaper published twelve supposedly harmless cartoons depicting Mohammad. Almost immediately, Muslim protestors torched Denmark’s embassies in Beirut and Damascus.

  15. article Obama allegations are false

    Wednesday, September 19, 2012 8:47 pm

In response to the two Opinion Letters “Obama is hiding something” and “Obama should open his records” published on August 22, clearly this is yet another example of false rumors being spread in an effort to persuade the gullible.  I also fault the Explorer - while these indeed are opinion letters, to print two together without an editorial correction is only condoning such action.

  16. article Obama broke promises

    Wednesday, September 19, 2012 8:49 pm

Ican’t even believe that the lady from Saddlebrooke wrote or even thought such nonsense as she wrote in this week’s Explorer.  Even with irrefutable proof of a falsified birth certificate and legitimate questions about where all Obama’s scholarships came from, she still manages to accuse the Republicans of ignoring facts. He has broken every promise he ever made in every arena.  He has broken every program he’s been involved in--for example, lost billions of our money in Solyndra; lost trillions in insisting on Obamacare; lost more billions on the stimulus plan; more billions on practically everything else he promised when he was running for president.  Those are facts.

  17. article Thanks to Obama for Affordable Healthcare

    Wednesday, July 18, 2012 4:00 am

“Obamacare is taking away our freedoms!” I hear that constantly from people who make “Obamacare” sound like a swear word. And whenever I hear it I find myself asking, which of our sacred freedoms are being taken away?

  18. article Obama, reminiscent of Nixon

    Tuesday, September 16, 2008 11:00 pm

The McCain campaign has attacked Barack Obama for his use of the old phrase about lipstick on a pig. They claim it’s a sexist attack on GOP VP candidate Sarah Palin, whose signature line involves lipstick. The McCain folks are over-acting here, but Obama’s poor choice of words in choosing this hackneyed phrase reveals things considerably more relevant. While it’s immensely enjoyable to watch a lefty get caught in the ever-changing world of what is politically correct, that’s not the real lesson.

  19. article Obama can’t keep promises

    Wednesday, October 24, 2012 4:00 am

Referring to the promises that President Obama made:  promises cannot be kept when a recalcitrant Congress, no, change that to an out-and-out obstructionist Congress, does not even pretend to compromise.  A broken promise is NOT a lie.  Even though the Democrats had a majority in the Senate for a time, it did not have a filibuster-proof majority. And add to that the Minority Leader, Mitch McConnell, who vowed to make Obama a “one term president,”and do you have?  Nothing, absolutely no progress for the country.  The Republicans have demonstrated time after time that they are more interested in party politics than in getting the problems of this nation solved.

  20. article Michelle Obama as a first lady

As she tells it, Michelle Obama’s first reaction when she heard her husband talk about running for president was, “Absolutely not! Please don’t do this!”

  24. article Obama wins reelection, Romney wins Arizona

  25. article Obama needs to be a one-term president

    Wednesday, October 31, 2012 4:00 am

Imagine, for a moment, that you are the U.S. Ambassador to Libya. You have exhausted every avenue available to you trying to obtain more security for yourself and your people. You have been thwarted at every turn, and a major portion of your security team has been pulled out to “normalize relations”.

Baby in stroller Falls Into Train Tracks Mom Jumps In Before Train Barrels In Caught On Camera read more

Baby in stroller Falls Into Train Tracks Mom Jumps In Before Train Barrels In Caught On Camera. A stroller carrying a 14-month-old girl rolled off a slanted train station platform and fell onto the tracks Wednesday, but the girl's mother leaped onto the tracks to rescue her with the help other passengers, transit officials said."What it looks like to us is that the mother became distracted by something, didn't apply the brake on the stroller and the stroller was able to move off the platform and onto the tracks," said Scott Sauer, director of system safety for the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority. The accident happened Wednesday afternoon at the 56th Street station of the Market-Frankford Line in west Philadelphia. The platform at the station is slanted slightly for drainage purposes, Sauer said.Surveillance video shows a woman on the eastbound platform with the girl in a jogging stroller, which slowly rolls forward and topples over onto the tracks about 5 feet below. What initially appears to be the girl flying out of the stroller apparently was just a towel or a bag. The stroller comes to rest on the outer rail, which carries no charge. The woman is seen jumping down and lifting the girl to a man waiting on the platform. Other passengers ran to help, and one used an emergency call box to alert SEPTA police, who held an incoming train at the preceding stop. The infant was taken to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for treatment of a cut on her forehead. Sauer said during a news conference that watching the video was "gut-wrenching.""With the stroller moving at such a slow rate of speed, you know, you want to call out to someone, `Hey, the stroller's moving! Somebody grab the stroller,'" Sauer said. He said the line is one of SEPTA's busiest, with trains running every six to 10 minutes. SEPTA police said no charges will be filed but the accident serves as a reminder for other riders to lock stroller brakes when waiting on platforms.
