The Elks National Foundation’s Most Valuable Student (MVS) Scholarship Program recognizes top students across the country based on their academic achievements, leadership skills, extracurricular activities, and their participation in community services. 

For the third consecutive year, the Town of Oro Valley has earned the “Playful City USA” designation from national non-profit KaBOOM! Presented by The Humana Foundation, Playful City USA is a national program advocating for local policies that increase play opportunities for children and is a key platform in combating the play deficit.

Canyon Del Oro High School’s two forensics teams took first and third place at the Crime Scene Investigators State Challenge, April 19-20.

Fifth graders from Oro Valley and surrounding areas no doubt had a lot to talk about on their bus ride back to class from the town’s fifth-annual Drug Awareness Day, held at Riverfront Park on Friday.

Runners, walkers, and wheelchair racers from all 50 states and three different countries flocked to scenic Oro Valley on March 24 for what proved to be another very successful year at the 9th annual Arizona Distance Classic. 

Best teacher

March 20 is the first-ever Arizona Gives Day. It begins at midnight on March 20 and lasts until 11:59 p.m. This is an online giving event to support nonprofits through a secure website. The Oro Valley Community Foundation is part of the Arizona Day of Giving.

In 2003, John Corbett, owner of All About Running and Walking, Gregg Forzst of Ventana Medical Systems, Jami Eggold of Northwest Medical Center, and Ainsley Reeder from The Town of Oro Valley collaborated to bring a world-class half marathon to Oro Valley.

Welcome to the ninth annual Arizona Distance Classic Half Marathon, Quarter Marathon and Northwest Medical Center 5k, hosted by Ventana Medical Systems and presented by The Town of Oro Valley, Northwest Medical Center and All About Running and Walking. The Arizona Distance Classic has become the ultimate spring celebration of the active healthy lifestyle in the world-class town of Oro Valley and this year again benefits the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training program.

In what is suspected to be a road rage incident, Oro Valley police continue to investigate the death of a 22-year-old Tucson resident, while charging 21-year-old David Arnoldo Mota with first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon.

Last week the lives of many were impacted by a senseless tragedy that led to the death of one, and to another being charged with first-degree murder.

The Arizona Distance Classic, planned in Oro Valley this March, is aiming to do more than just get people fit. With the announcement of a new partnership, the Arizona Distance Classic has teamed up with a local elementary school to raise funds for the Christina-Taylor Green Memorial Foundation.

Mathnasium is a Math learning center.  We work with students at all levels of Math.  Yes, we work with students who struggle, but we are also here for those who wish to get ahead with an eye toward getting into the best colleges.  We can assist your child by taking them where they currently are mathematically and moving them ahead in understanding and mathematical ability.
