Koko FitClub, located at 10785 N. Oracle Road, is offering parents the opportunity to get their kids active this summer with Camp Koko, a four-week camp where boys and girls, ages 13-18, will learn the proper ways to exercise and eat.  The first camp runs June 3rd through June 27th and the second camp runs July 8th through August 1st.  

When Oro Valley Town Council gave initial approval for the Aquatic Center in December 2011, it was with the vision that the facility would be both an economic driver for the town and an improvement to quality of life for our residents. It has been just two short months since our grand opening, and I am proud to announce that the facility has been an overwhelming success on both accounts.

March 20 is the first-ever Arizona Gives Day. It begins at midnight on March 20 and lasts until 11:59 p.m. This is an online giving event to support nonprofits through a secure website. The Oro Valley Community Foundation is part of the Arizona Day of Giving.

In 2003, John Corbett, owner of All About Running and Walking, Gregg Forzst of Ventana Medical Systems, Jami Eggold of Northwest Medical Center, and Ainsley Reeder from The Town of Oro Valley collaborated to bring a world-class half marathon to Oro Valley.

I was very disturbed and saddened to see your front page photo this morning (Feb. 27 edition of The Explorer.)  This poor animal is obviously frightened and in pain. This is too similar to the photo of the young boy shooting the big-horn sheep. I question if either of these activities should be deemed a sport when there are defenseless four-legged victims involved.

There is a new youth sports league coming in 2013. The new program will be a tackle and flag football league, along with a cheerleading program for all ages. 

It took overtime to do it, but when the final buzzer sounded, the Pusch Ridge Lions had defeated the Canyon Del Oro Dorados for the fourth time this season in girls’ varsity basketball.

The Arizona Distance Classic, planned in Oro Valley this March, is aiming to do more than just get people fit. With the announcement of a new partnership, the Arizona Distance Classic has teamed up with a local elementary school to raise funds for the Christina-Taylor Green Memorial Foundation.

El Conquistador Golf Club at the award-winning Hilton Tucson El Conquistador Golf & Tennis Resort has a reputation in Tucson for providing fun, scenic golf in a resort setting. Opened in the early 1980’s, the club has filled a niche in Oro Valley providing all the amenities for an active lifestyle, including golf, tennis, two pools, and expansive health club facility and several dining options. The Club has recently invested nearly $3 million to enhance its two golf courses – The Conquistador Course and The Cañada Course.

Ideal Physical Therapy has opened a new East Grant Location in Tucson with Keith Fischer, PT, DPT.
