Come learn about our services and volunteer opportunities! Established in 2000, Catalina Community Services provides life enhancing services to those in need through our food bank, clothing bank, senior center, programs for youth, and community education.

You may be surprised to learn that, according to 2010 Census data, there are now as many residents in Oro Valley under the age of 18 as there are over the age of 65. No longer just a retirement community, Oro Valley is now taking a look at its new profile and asking an important question: Are we meeting the needs of all residents?

Forty-one VOSH (Volunteer Optometrists Serving Humanity) Arizona volunteers, including 11 students from the Arizona College of Optometry in Glendale, recently completed the organization’s 12th mission to provide eye care in Hermosillo, Mexico.  

The Friends of the Oro Valley Public Library will run its annual spring book sale at the Oro Valley Library, beginning Wednesday, April 10, and running through Saturday, April 13.

Oro Valley resident Karen Borth is making a difference with Tucson veterans as a volunteer in the Casas Adobes American Legion Auxiliary, Post and Unit #73. Along with her fellow volunteers, Borth helps fundraise for the increasing number of homeless and needy veterans in Southern Arizona.

For four years, students at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson and Phoenix have worked toward "Match Day" – the day they learn where they will spend the next several years as resident-physicians, a major step in building a medical career.

In 2003, John Corbett, owner of All About Running and Walking, Gregg Forzst of Ventana Medical Systems, Jami Eggold of Northwest Medical Center, and Ainsley Reeder from The Town of Oro Valley collaborated to bring a world-class half marathon to Oro Valley.

Welcome to the ninth annual Arizona Distance Classic Half Marathon, Quarter Marathon and Northwest Medical Center 5k, hosted by Ventana Medical Systems and presented by The Town of Oro Valley, Northwest Medical Center and All About Running and Walking. The Arizona Distance Classic has become the ultimate spring celebration of the active healthy lifestyle in the world-class town of Oro Valley and this year again benefits the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training program.

The Town of Oro Valley is accepting applications from local citizens who are interested in serving on the Historic Preservation Commission. To serve on a board or commission, members must be residents of the Town, be available to attend the designated meetings and be committed to the completion of the Town's Community Academy within their term.

Some might know Oro Valley resident Bill Adler as the recipient of Community Leader of the Year, or they might see him as a pot stirrer. Either way, the man, who earlier in his life had no real interest in politics or local government, has always had the town’s best intentions in mind.

Each year the Classic Car Show and Blues Festival rolls into Oro Valley, attracting thousands of people and bringing the community together, and each year the show presents more and more reasons to attend.
