OVPD Police Chief Daniel G. Sharp will be attending a conference on June 18, 2013 in Scottsdale to receive this recognition.

  6. article OVPD responds to apparent homicide-suicide in Sun City

    On April 9, 2013, the Oro Valley Police Department responded to the 13000 block of North Tom Ryans Way (Sun City). Officers were sent to the residence after receiving an emergency 911 phone call requesting a welfare check. Forced entry was made into the residence where two individuals were found deceased. The individuals are identified as Clarence R. Shaub (male, age 78) and Doris J. Shaub (female, age 76). Evidence indicates the incident is a homicide-suicide. Detectives are actively investigating.

  10. article OVPD seeks assistance in locating burglary suspect

    On December 28, 2012, the Oro Valley Police Department (OVPD) responded to the 10000 block of North Mavinee Drive (Arizona Self-Storage) in reference to several storage facilities being burglarized. During this burglary, over $60,000 of victims’ personal items were taken. The case was turned over to OVPD Criminal Investigations Unit, where it was discovered that brothers Elmer Upchurch (DOB 06/13/85) and Jack Upchurch (DOB 07/11/84) may be involved in this crime.

    On Jan. 29 the Oro Valley Police Department (OVPD) was investigating a larceny from the Wal-Mart store at the Oro Valley Marketplace. During the investigation, information was obtained which implicated an on-duty Oro Valley police officer who was involved in a separate larceny.
